What should I do before running a self-clean cycle?

Before self-cleaning, hand clean the oven door edge, window, front frame, and cavity edges, then wipe up large overspills with paper towels. Remove the broiler pan, all utensils, bakeware, and oven racks, and ensure the oven light is turned off with the bulb and glass cover in place. Leaving oven racks inside during self-clean will cause them to lose their shiny finish and not glide smoothly. (Page 13)
