What safety precautions should I follow when charging a battery with the C3?

Always charge in a sheltered, well-ventilated area as hydrogen gas may escape from the battery during charging. Avoid naked flames, hot surfaces, and sparks near the battery, and never cover the charger while in operation. Wear safety goggles and protective gloves, and never place the charger directly on or next to the battery. (Page 4)
