What should I do before using the cooktop for the very first time?

Remove all packing materials and literature from the cooktop surface, then wipe with a clean damp sponge and dry while cool. Apply the Cooktop Cleaning Creme® packaged with the cooktop and buff with a clean cloth. There may be a slight odor during the first several uses, which is normal and will disappear. (Page 5)
