What is the correct way to add detergent to the washing machine?

Open the detergent dispenser tray and add detergent or additive to the appropriate chambers: Pre-wash chamber I for prewash detergent, Main-wash chamber II for main wash detergent, and Softener chamber i for fabric softener.
