How do I check and adjust the brake if the stopping distance is too long?

If the tractor requires more than five feet to stop at the highest speed on a level, dry concrete surface, the brake needs adjustment. With the parking brake engaged, measure the distance between the brake operating arm and nut 'A' on the brake rod — it should be 1-9/16 inches. If the distance is different, loosen the jam nut, turn nut 'A' to achieve 1-9/16 inches, then retighten the jam nut and road test the tractor.
