What should I do if the engine has been recently running before performing maintenance?

If the engine has been recently run, the engine, muffler, and surrounding metal surfaces will be extremely hot and can cause burns to the skin. Allow the engine to cool for at least five minutes before performing any maintenance or repairs. Exercise caution to avoid burns when servicing the equipment. (Page 22-23)
