How do I align the print head?

Make sure paper is loaded, then press the SelecType button until HEAD ALIGNMENT MENU displays. Press Item, then Enter to see the alignment setting. Press the + button to change to Uni-D, then press Enter to print the alignment pattern. Use a 10× eye loupe to examine the patterns and determine which numbered line overlaps most evenly, using the + or – buttons to select the best line number for each row and pressing Enter to register each setting. Repeat this process for all rows, then repeat the entire procedure in Bi-D mode for best results. (Page 1-39 to 1-40)
