What are the rules for dressing my child before placing them in the car seat?

In cold weather, do not dress the child in bulky clothing such as snowsuits, as this makes it difficult to properly tighten the harness and may allow the child to be ejected from the restraint during a crash. If extra warmth is needed, place a blanket over the harnessed child without interfering with the harness system. (Page 14)
