How do I properly connect the battery charger clamps to my vehicle?

For negative-grounded vehicles, connect the red (positive) clamp to the positive battery terminal and the black (negative) clamp to a metal part of the vehicle's frame or engine block away from the battery. For positive-grounded vehicles, reverse this: connect the black clamp to the negative terminal and the red clamp to the metal frame. Always ensure the charger is unplugged before connecting or disconnecting clamps.
