How do I safely add a forgotten dish after the dishwasher has already started?

A forgotten dish can be added any time before the main wash begins. Push the door latch to the left, wait for the water to calm, then carefully open the door as steam may rise out, add the forgotten dish, close the door, and push the latch to the far right to resume the cycle. (Page 13)
