My dishwasher won't drain — what should I check?

First, check and clean the air gap if you have one, as a plugged air gap is a common cause of draining problems. Also check that your kitchen sink is draining properly, and if the dishwasher drains into a garbage disposer, run the disposer to clear it and make sure it is not clogged. A small amount of water around the outlet on the tub bottom at the back is normal and is there to keep the water seal lubricated. (Pages 13–14)
