How much detergent should I use in my washing machine?

Use only low-sudsing, high-efficiency detergent such as Tide HE. Follow the detergent manufacturer's recommendations for the proper amount, and consider using less if you have soft water, a smaller load, or a lightly soiled load. Using too much detergent can lead to oversudsing and residue left on clothes.
