Why is there lint or residue on my clothes after washing?

Lint on clothes is commonly caused by incorrect sorting — lint producers should be separated from lint collectors. Other causes include overloading the washer, washing too long, detergent not dissolving properly, or incorrect use of fabric softener. To help detergent dissolve, add it as the wash basket fills with water before loading clothes, or try a liquid detergent with warmer water. (Page 16)
