What are VOCs and how does the VOC function work?

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are gases emitted from certain household cleaning products, home improvement products, and common home decor items that can be harmful or irritating if inhaled. When the VOC auto sensing mode is selected, the upper left indicator light illuminates blue and the air purifier automatically operates at the appropriate cleaning level to reduce these gases. The lower right indicator illuminates green (low VOCs, operates in Germ setting), amber (moderate VOCs, operates in General Clean setting), or red (high VOCs, operates in Allergen setting).
