How do I clean carpets effectively?

For carpet cleaning, fill upper tank with HOOVER Carpet/Upholstery Detergent solution as directed in the manual; place speed selector to HI or LO depending on surface condition. Start at far end of room moving along wet-stroke dry-stroke pattern while overlapping by one inch to avoid streaking and ending with more dry strokes for faster drying after cleaning. (Page 10)
