Why can't my printer receive faxes automatically?

If you subscribe to a voicemail service on the same phone line used for faxing, the Auto Answer setting must be turned off, meaning you can only receive faxes manually. To receive faxes automatically, contact your telephone company to subscribe to a distinctive ring service or obtain a separate phone line for faxing. You can also check that the Auto Answer setting is turned On from the printer's control panel under Fax Setup > Basic Fax Setup. (Pages 10, 15)
