What should I do if the HP printer software installation fails on my Windows computer?

Remove the CD from your computer, disconnect the printer, and restart the computer. Then temporarily disable any software firewall and close any anti-virus software before reinserting the printer software CD and following the on-screen instructions. Do not connect the USB cable until prompted to do so, and restart the computer and any security software after installation is complete. (Page 3)
