What precautions should I take when handling hard drives during replacement?

Before removing or inserting a hard drive, shut down the computer completely. Handle drives on surfaces covered with at least one inch of shock-proof foam, avoid dropping drives from any height, and place removed drives in a static-proof bag. You should also avoid exposing drives to magnetic fields, temperature extremes, or liquids. (Page 37)
