How much detergent should I use for a normal load?

For normally soiled loads with soft to medium water (0–6 grains per gallon), fill the Main Wash section to the top of the 2nd step (2 tablespoons or 30 g). For hard water (7–12 grains per gallon), fill the Main Wash section to the top of the 3rd step (3 tablespoons or 45 g). Only add 1 tablespoon (15 g) if dishes are pre-rinsed or water is very soft (0–2 grains per gallon). (Page 10-11)
