What should I do if there are suds in the dishwasher tub?

Suds are typically caused by using the wrong type of detergent — only automatic dishwasher detergents should be used. To remove existing suds, open the dishwasher and let the suds evaporate, then add 1 gallon of cold water to the tub, close and latch the door, and pump out the water by slowly turning the dial until a drain period is reached.
