When should motor brushes be replaced, and how should they be reinstalled?

Motor brushes should be replaced if they are worn to less than 5/16" in length. When reinstalling, brushes must be marked for correct orientation — right and left, as well as which side faces up — and reinstalled in the same position from which they were removed. (Pages 9, 13)
