Why does my mixer only run on high speed and how can I fix it?

The most likely causes are an unhooked control plate spring, a shorted phase control, or incorrect wiring. To check the control plate spring, remove the end cover and reattach the spring to the bottom of the control plate if it has come loose. If the phase control is suspected, disconnect the power cord, block the T-bar contacts open with paper, reapply power, and if the mixer still runs at full speed, the phase control is defective and must be replaced.
