Why does my air conditioner not start immediately after I turn it on?

A delay of about 3 minutes before operation begins is normal and is a built-in compressor protection mechanism. This delay is applied to protect the compressor from frequently turning on and off. Simply wait about 3 minutes and operation will begin. (Page 24)
