What should I do during a power outage to protect food in the freezer?

If the power will be out for 24 hours or less, keep all refrigerator doors closed to help foods stay cold and frozen. If the outage will last more than 24 hours, either move frozen food to a frozen food locker or place 2 lbs. (1 kg) of dry ice per cubic foot of freezer space, which will keep food frozen for two to four days. When handling dry ice, wear gloves to protect against frostbite and ensure adequate ventilation.
