How do I activate the pointer feature on the Magic Remote?

Shake the Magic Remote slightly to the right and left, or press the Home, Input, or Settings buttons to make the pointer appear on the screen. The pointer will automatically disappear after a period of inactivity or when the remote is placed on a flat surface. (Page 1)
