What type of detergent should I use and how much should I add?

Use powder detergent only for this front loading washer, and follow the detergent manufacturer's instructions regarding quantity. For a full load use the manufacturer's recommended amount, for a part load use 3/4 of the normal amount, and for a minimum load use 1/2 of the full load amount. Using too much detergent can cause excessive suds, decrease washing results, or cause heavy load to the motor resulting in malfunction. (Page 12)
