How much detergent should I use in the DW-1?

The amount of detergent depends on your water hardness and soil level. For example, soft water (0–4 gpg) with normal soil requires 4 tsp in the pre-wash and 6 tsp in the main wash, while hard water (10–12 gpg) with heavy soil requires 5 tsp pre-wash and 8 tsp main wash. Too little detergent results in poor cleaning and spotting, while too much can cause permanent etching or cloudiness. (Page 5)
