Why are my glasses coming out cloudy or spotted?

Cloudiness that can be removed by soaking in white vinegar for approximately 5 minutes is caused by hard water — adjust your detergent amount to match water hardness and ensure you are using a rinse aid. If the cloudiness cannot be removed, it is permanent etching caused by water that is too hot, too much detergent, or prewashing; to prevent further etching, adjust detergent amount, stop prewashing, and only use water heating options when incoming water is below 120°F (49°C).
