How do I clean the interior of the dishwasher to remove white spots and film?

Clean the interior with a paste of powdered dishwasher detergent and water, or use liquid dishwasher detergent on a damp sponge on the cooled-down interior. A white vinegar rinse may remove white spots and film — place 2 cups (500 mL) of white vinegar in a glass or dishwasher-safe measuring cup on the bottom rack and run a complete washing cycle using air-dry or energy-saving dry without detergent. Use vinegar sparingly, as it is an acid and using it too often could damage your dishwasher. (Page 9)
