How do I safely handle fuel when refueling the engine?

Stop the engine and let it cool off before checking or adding fuel. Do not add fuel while smoking or if the unit is near any sparks or open flames, and do not overfill the tank — leave room for fuel to expand. If fuel is spilled, clean it up before starting the engine and dispose of rags in a fireproof container. (Page 7)
