What should be done before working on the compressed air system?

Before working on the compressed air system, turn off and lockout/tagout the unit, release pressure, and be sure air pressure cannot be accidentally applied. Relieve pressure before disconnecting or connecting air lines. Check compressed air system components and all connections and hoses for damage, leaks, and wear before operating the unit.
