How do I set up and connect the welding cables on the Maxstar 161 STL?

Connect the work clamp cable to the negative (-) terminal for DC TIG and most Stick welding, or to the positive (+) terminal for some Stick electrodes. For TIG welding, connect the TIG torch power cable to the positive (+) terminal and the gas hose to the gas regulator. For Stick welding, connect the electrode holder cable to the appropriate terminal based on electrode polarity requirements.
