What should I do before using my grill for the first time?

Remove all packaging material and tape from the unit, then wash the grill grate and crisper basket in warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly. We recommend running the grill on the GRILL function set to HI for 20 minutes without adding food to remove any residues.
