How do I set the water hardness on the machine?

With the machine switched off, press and hold the aroma strength icon until all lights in the icon turn on, then tap the aroma strength icon 1, 2, 3, or 4 times to match the number of red squares shown on the water hardness test strip supplied in the box. Press the start/stop button to confirm, then press on/off to restart the machine. The default water hardness setting is 4 (hard water). (Page 16)
