How do I clean the silicone gasket, and what should I do if it looks damaged?

Turn the lid upside down, grip the silicone gasket, and pull up to remove it, then wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. When replacing it, make sure the groove in the center of the gasket is positioned around the metal ring on the inside edge of the lid, or the unit will not work. If the silicone gasket appears damaged, cracked, or torn, do not use the unit and contact customer service at 1-800-207-0806. (Page 16)
