What is the minimum amount of liquid required for pressure cooking, and why?
A minimum of 1 cup (8 oz.) of liquid is required whenever cooking foods under pressure. This liquid is necessary to create enough steam to build up the pressure inside the cooker. Without sufficient liquid, the timer countdown will not begin. (Page 10)
