What should I do before using the Power Cooker Plus for the very first time?

Before first use, remove all packing materials and wash all removable parts in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. You should also verify the silicone gasket is seated properly by filling the pot two-thirds full with water and cooking for 15 minutes, then releasing pressure by turning the knob to STEAM. If no steam is released, the gasket has not been fitted correctly and must be readjusted. Finally, let the appliance cool to room temperature, then empty and clean it. (Page 7)
