How do I properly wear a lap-shoulder belt?

First adjust your seat so you can sit up straight. Pick up the latch plate and pull the belt across you without twisting it. Push the latch plate into the buckle until it clicks, then pull up on the latch plate to ensure it is secure. The lap part should be worn low and snug on the hips, just touching the thighs, and the shoulder belt should go over your shoulder and across your chest.
