What are the safety precautions I should follow when using the Schumacher battery charger?

Read all instructions and cautionary markings before use. Position the AC and DC cords to reduce risk of damage, stay clear of moving engine parts, check battery polarity (positive post is usually larger), and determine which post is grounded to the chassis. Never place the charger directly above the battery, allow battery acid to drip on it, or operate it in a closed-in area with restricted ventilation. A spark near the battery may cause an explosion.
