How do I attach a button using the Button Sewing Foot?

Snap on the Button Sewing Foot, drop the feed dogs or attach the feed dog cover plate, then position the button under the foot with the holes in the blue open area of the foot. Set the machine for a Button Sew Stitch or Zigzag Stitch at 0 length, and slowly turn the handwheel to confirm the needle inserts in the middle of each button hole before sewing 6-8 stitches. Knot by switching to a straight stitch at 0 length for 3-4 stitches, and if a shank is needed, place a straight pin or toothpick under the button before stitching. (Page 14)
