How do I properly connect the jump starter cables to my vehicle's battery?

Ensure the jump starter is turned off before connecting the clamps. Attach the red (positive) clamp to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery, then connect the black (negative) clamp to a metal surface on the vehicle's frame or engine block, away from the battery. Once connected, turn on the jump starter and start the vehicle. After the vehicle starts, remove the clamps in reverse order: first the black clamp, then the red clamp.
