How do I properly start the engine on my Troy Bilt TB30R?

To start the engine, first insert the key into the ignition switch module. Place the PTO (blade engage) lever in the disengaged position and ensure the parking brake is engaged. Move the throttle control forward to activate the choke. Turn the key clockwise to the START position until the engine fires (Page 20).
