What should I do to prepare my Whirlpool washer for storage or moving in freezing weather?

Winterize your washer by shutting off both water faucets and disconnecting and draining the water inlet hoses. Pour 1 quart (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze into the basket, then run the washer on a drain and spin setting for about 30 seconds to mix the antifreeze with remaining water. Finally, unplug the washer or disconnect power. When ready to use again, flush water pipes and hoses, reconnect inlet hoses, turn on both faucets, plug in the washer, and run a complete cycle with 1 cup (250 mL) of detergent to clean out the antifreeze.
