How do I start a wash cycle on my Whirlpool 8575985 dishwasher?

First, scrape large food soil and hard items from dishes, then properly load the dishwasher. Add detergent and check the rinse aid dispenser. Push the door firmly closed, run hot water at the nearest sink until it's hot, then turn off the water. Press the desired cycle and option selections, then press START/RESUME to begin the cycle.
