What is the ideal water temperature for the dishwasher and how do I check it?

For best dishwashing results, water should enter the dishwasher at 120°F (49°C). To check, run hot water at the faucet closest to your dishwasher for at least 1 minute, place a candy or meat thermometer in a glass measuring cup, and check the temperature as water flows in. If your water heater is far from the dishwasher, run the hot water at the faucet first to minimize cold water in the line. (Page 14)
