Which items should not be washed in the dishwasher?

Several items should not be washed in the dishwasher, including delicate or antique china and crystal, cast iron utensils (which will rust and lose their seasoned finish), wood items such as cutting boards and knives with wooden handles, gold flatware, and pewter or pewter-like materials. Plastics should only be washed if marked 'Dishwasher Safe' and placed in the top rack only. (Page 11)
