How do I prepare my dryer if I'm going on vacation or won't use it for an extended period?

If you will not be using the dryer for an extended period, you should unplug the dryer or disconnect power and clean the lint screen. For gas dryers, you should also close the shut-off valve to the gas supply line. The manual also states that you should only operate the dryer when you are at home. (Page 11)
