What items should not be washed in the dishwasher?

Do not wash cast iron (seasoning will be removed and iron will rust), bottles and cans (labels can loosen and clog spray arms), gold-colored flatware (will discolor), hollow-handle knives (adhesive can loosen), pewter, brass, bronze (can discolor or pit), disposable plastics and aluminum (cannot withstand high temperatures), tin (can rust), or wooden ware.
