What should I do to prepare my dryer before going on vacation or moving?

Before an extended period of non-use, unplug the dryer or disconnect power, clean the lint screen, and (for gas dryers only) close the shutoff valve on the gas supply line. When moving a cord-connected dryer, unplug the power cord, ensure leveling legs are secure, and use tape to secure the dryer door. For gas dryers being moved, also close the gas shutoff valve, disconnect the gas supply line, and cap the open fuel supply line. (Page 10)
