How often should I replace the water inlet hoses, and how do I connect them correctly?

Inlet hoses should be replaced after 5 years of use to reduce the risk of hose failure; you should also inspect and replace them sooner if bulges, kinks, cuts, wear, or leaks are found. When connecting, insert new flat washers into each end of the new inlet hoses, attach the hot hose to the left inlet valve and the cold hose to the right, screw couplings by hand until seated, then tighten with pliers by an additional two-thirds turn — do not overtighten, as this can damage the coupling.
